TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Ombudsman chief Hery Susanto is charged with receiving bribery worth Rp4.85 billion in cash and a house in the graft case involving nickel mining governance from the 2013-2025 period.

Prosecutors mentioned that the gifts were given in relation to Hery's post as an Ombudsman member. "The gifts were given to incite [Hery] to conduct or not conduct something in his official position," the prosecution said while reading out the indictment at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Hery is said to have been bribed into declaring there is administrative misconduct in the Ombudsman's report on the determination of non-tax state revenues from forest area utilization permits by Toshida Indonesia and PT Dinamika Sejahtera Mandiri.

Hery was also accused of receiving similar bribes to declare the denied request to elevate the mining licenses of PT Mitra Kumala Energi and PT Gold Talenta Nala Raya as an act of administrative misconduct.

The prosecutor detailed that Hery received cash from the aforementioned company executives through various intermediaries. Besides cash, Hery is also suspected of receiving a house in the Pulo Gebang Permai area, Cakung, East Jakarta, worth Rp2.2 billion from Agung Winarno.

In detail, Hery received Rp675 million from Laode Sinarwan Oda, the director of PT Toshida Indonesia, through Lukman Malanuang and Edi Sugandi; Rp200 million from the director of PT Dinamika Sejahtera Mandiri, Tjia Peng Tjuan through Lukman Malanuang; Rp1.2 billion and Rp525 million from Agung Winarno; and Rp50 million from Muhammad Rosal through Agung Winarno. Thus, the total sum of alleged bribery received by Hery Susanto amounted to Rp4.85 billion.

Prosecution indicted Hery with Article 5 no. 4 and 6 of the Corruption Law. Hery Susanto is also charged with several articles under the Ombudsman Law No. 37 of 2008 for misuse of authority.
