The Indonesian Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, revealed the results of the Ministry of Public Works' mapping of the impact of hydro-meteorological disasters that hit Aceh, resulting in the breakage of 15 bridges on several national road sections.

For emergency handling, said Dody, the need for bailey bridges in Aceh Province was determined to be 18 units. Out of that number, 8 units have been made available and installed in several priority locations, while the other 10 units are still in the process of being fulfilled and mobilized from various regions outside Aceh.

"The distribution of the need for 18 bailey bridges covers strategic sections that connect coastal areas, inland areas, and the hinterland of Aceh," he said in a written statement on Saturday, December 13, 2025, as quoted from Antara.

Bailey bridges in the Bireuen, Bener Meriah, and Aceh Tengah areas are needed at several points such as Teupin Mane, Alue Kulus, Weihni Enang-enang, Weihni Rongka, Timang Gajah, Weihni Lampahan, and Jamur Ujung. Along the Aceh Tengah-Nagan Raya to Lhok Seumot-Jeuram route, bailey bridges are needed to restore access at the Krueng Beutong Bridge.

Meanwhile, the need for bailey bridges is also scattered along the Pameue-Genting Gerbang-Simpang Uning route, including the Krueng Pelang, Jeurata, and Titi Merah Bridges, as well as along the Simpang Uning-Uwaq route at the Lenang Bridge.

Therefore, Dody stated that the Ministry of Public Works is accelerating the mobilization and installation of bailey bridges after the Sumatra disaster. This is done as an effort to restore connectivity, which is the government's top priority because it directly impacts the social and economic activities of the people.

"Under the direction of the President, all Ministry of Public Works resources are being maximized to ensure that land access can be restored as soon as possible. We continue to work on this because it involves the mobility of residents, the distribution of aid, and recovery activities in the field," he said.

The Ministry of Public Works continues to accelerate the handling of road and bridge infrastructure after the floods and landslides that hit Aceh some time ago.

To meet these needs, the Ministry of Public Works is mobilizing bailey bridges from various sources. A total of 10 bailey bridges have been prepared, including 1 bailey from the National Road Implementation Office (BPJN) Riau to Kutacane, 6 Baileys from the National Road Implementation Office (BBPJN) East Kalimantan, 2 Baileys from the Citeureup Depot, and 1 Bailey from BPJN Jambi.

In its implementation, several state-owned enterprises are also assisting, starting from 5 Baileys from Adhi Karya, 3 Baileys from Hutama Karya, and 1 bailey from Nindya Karya. One of the ongoing progress is the mobilization of bailey bridges from Balikpapan to Lhokseumawe.

As of December 13, 2025 at 09:00 WITA (Central Indonesian Time), the BPJN East Kalimantan Warehouse has completed the selection and sorting of 3 sets of bailey bridges. A total of 2 sets of bridges have been loaded onto 8 trucks, while another set is being mobilized to Kariangau Port using 4 trucks. Meanwhile, at Kariangau Port, the bridge frames are being loaded into 2 40-foot containers and 10 20-foot containers.

This process is supported by heavy equipment such as cranes, flatbed trucks, excavators, as well as hyap cranes and forklifts, both at the workshops and the port. "The Ministry of Public Works continues to strive to restore this access as soon as possible. Roads and bridges are the lifelines of community movement and logistics distribution," said Dody.

Previously, Dody also emphasized the acceleration of emergency bridge construction on the Central Aceh Route to restore connectivity after the flash floods and landslides. A total of 13 bridges along that corridor were reported to be damaged, thus obstructing the movement of people and the distribution of logistics, especially heading to the Takengon mountainous region.

Restoring road and bridge access is the top priority in Aceh. He stated that this basic infrastructure is crucial for the smooth movement of residents and aid distribution. "The Ministry of Public Works continues to make efforts to restore this access as soon as possible. Roads and bridges are the lifelines of community movement and logistics distribution," he said.
