TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several areas in southern Bali, Indonesia, were reported to be hit by a wide and severe flood in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025. The flood occurred after heavy rains once again engulfed Bali.

Several videos show the flooding on Sunset Road, Denpasar. The flood, amidst the continuing rain, can be seen in a video posted on Sunday morning. Another video captured a large flood engulfing Kerobokan, Badung, in the early hours.

Data from the Denpasar Meteorology and Climatology Agency revealed that the rainfall in the tourist island on Saturday, December 13, 2025, was classified as very heavy (100-150 mm per day). The measurement by the Sanglah Geophysics Station in Denpasar recorded 109.8 mm.

Several other areas experienced moderate intensity rain, such as the National Climatology Station, on the same day. Some reported light rain.

The rainy weather continued yesterday, Sunday, December 14, with even more widespread heavy rain reported. The Ngurah Rai Meteorology Station, which had previously recorded light rainfall, for example, reported a rainfall intensity of 92.9 mm on Sunday (heavy rainfall category).

The others, namely the Sanglah Geophysics Station, Kahang-kahang Post (Karangasem), and the National Climatology Station reported moderate rain. Each recorded intensities of 37.5; 47.6; and 32.0 mm, respectively.

Citing Antara, the floods that hit Bali again resulted in casualties. A foreign national was found dead under the bridge on the road to Canggu Pertiwi, North Kuta, Badung, on Sunday morning.

The victim was allegedly riding a motorbike and attempting to cross the floodwaters on Krisnantara Road when heavy rain hit the area in the early hours. "The victim was found trapped between the bridge wall and the stuck wooden slats under the bridge," said Acting Head of Subdivision for Public Information at the Badung Police Resort Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, on Sunday.

It is known that a major flood hit Bali on September 10. The rainfall at that time was considered extreme. Many believe the rain triggered a disaster that had been looming since the changes in agricultural land use due to uncontrolled tourism development on the island.
