TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports predicts that the number of passengers at 37 airports will reach 10.5 million during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holiday period, or Nataru. "This figure represents a 4.1 percent increase compared to the previous Nataru period," said InJourney Airports' President Director, Mohammad Rizal Pahlevi, during a press conference on Nataru preparations at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
To anticipate the surge in passenger numbers, InJourney Airports has established Nataru posts at 37 airports operating during the period from December 15, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
InJourney Airports expects the peak period for Christmas 2025 flights to occur on Saturday, December 20, and Sunday, December 21, 2025, with an estimated 590,000 passengers per day. Meanwhile, the peak period for New Year 2026 flights is projected to happen on January 3-4, 2026, with an estimated 560,000 and 522,000 passengers, respectively.
Rizal assured the full readiness of all 37 airports managed by the company to serve the public's air travel during the Christmas and New Year period in 2025/2026. This readiness includes infrastructure, facilities, and personnel that have been optimally deployed to anticipate increased air traffic during this year-end peak season.
InJourney Airports' airports are also supported by strengthened Airport Management procedures and modern IT infrastructure. Part of this Airport Management includes the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC), which serves as a real-time operational control room, and the Management Operation based on Traffic (MOT), a system that can predict passenger movements and terminal congestion while providing recommendations for optimizing facilities and personnel to ensure smooth service.
In addition, all airport infrastructure is assured to be ready for the Nataru period. "The airside infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, aprons, electrical systems, and drainage facilities, is ensured to be in good condition to accommodate flights," said Rizal.
During this Nataru period, InJourney Airports has also launched new service innovations. Deputy President Director InJourney Airports Achmad Syahir stated that these service innovations are part of the company's commitment to Wholehearted Service.
"During the Nataru period, InJourney Airports is introducing the latest service innovation, which is mobile customer service. The mobile customer service staff will wear suits and batik ties. They will move around the terminal, providing solutions directly on the spot, including at passenger service touch areas such as check-in, boarding lounges, arrival halls, and so on," said Syahir.
Furthermore, Syahir mentioned that during the Nataru period, the airports will also create a Christmas and New Year ambiance to accompany travelers.
"The majority of year-end trips are taken by families on vacation. In line with this, we are introducing customer experience activation programs and Christmas and New Year ambiance that engage all five senses to provide a seamless journey experience for all families traveling during this year-end holiday," said Syahir.
