TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia and Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, sent off 1,066 volunteers and 109 aid trucks to support emergency response and recovery efforts for disasters in Sumatra, with Aceh as one of the priority distribution areas.
This activity coincides with the commemoration of National Defense Day, interpreted as a manifestation of the state's presence in a humanitarian context. This is part of the "BUMN Peduli" (SOE Care) initiative that serves as a platform for coordinating and synergizing contributions to respond to emergencies in an integrated manner. State-owned enterprises deploy cross-sector volunteers, logistical support, and operational resources to ensure aid reaches affected communities quickly and accurately according to their needs.
"The role of BUMN in disaster situations is part of the national responsibility as state-owned companies. BUMN belongs to the Indonesian people. Therefore, whenever the people are in need, our presence is not optional, but a duty. Since the beginning of the disaster, we have emphasized that the presence of BUMN is not just a supplement," said Dony at the Multipurpose Hall of Kualanamu Airport, Deliserdang Regency, North Sumatra, on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Dony stated that the initial distribution of aid is prioritized based on the assessment of needs and coordination with local governments and related agencies. Meanwhile, monitoring and preparedness of state-owned enterprises in other affected areas continue to anticipate developments on the ground.
Hundreds of trucks transport 1,300 tons of aid, including clothing, baby and children's supplies such as milk, diapers, and basic nutritional needs. Clean water for daily use, nine staple food items, medicines, communal tents, blankets, prayer equipment, and various other necessary supplies.
As part of the post-disaster recovery phase, Danantara Indonesia and BP BUMN are also preparing further support in the form of building around 15,000 temporary housing units in several affected locations. The construction will be carried out in coordination with local governments and related agencies, prioritizing safety, habitability, and the needs of the local community.
"I am proud to see that more than 1,000 employees of BUMN are willing to volunteer directly to help affected communities. I also appreciate the hard work of my colleagues in BUMN who continue to ensure that basic services remain operational for the people in affected areas," said Dony.
One of the contributing state-owned enterprises is PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk., which dispatched 100 of its employees as volunteers. The volunteers are BSI and BSI Maslahat personnel, as well as related partners, who have received basic disaster training. They can coordinate with regional authorities. Volunteers will participate in various recovery activities, including aid distribution, logistical support, social services, community assistance, and banking service restoration in Aceh.
Director of Sales and Distribution at BSI, Anton Sukarna, stated that the presence of BSI volunteers reflects the trust and concern that the company always upholds. "BSI is not only present through banking services but also through tangible humanitarian actions. The dispatch of volunteers is expected to help the recovery process and alleviate the burden on the community after the disaster," said Anton, who was also present to send off the volunteers.
As of today, BSI and BSI Maslahat have delivered 125 tons of logistical aid to Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. They have set up public kitchens, trauma healing centers, and health clinics. The public kitchen provides 3,000 boxed meals for the people in Langsa and Aceh Tamiang. They have sent 20 tanks of clean water from Medan to the Aceh Tamiang region and opened trauma healing services.
"We are committed to continuing to actively participate in emergency response and disaster recovery efforts, in line with the principles of Sharia that uphold the values of concern, cooperation, and the welfare of the people," said Anton.
