TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The technology company Google has recently added a list of countries that will receive an expansion of the Gemini feature in Chrome for desktop and iOS devices. Google announced that all new countries are located in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam.
According to TechCrunch, this expansion is part of Google's efforts to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) from Gemini into the Chrome browser. Since last year, the company has added various AI capabilities, including a floating window for easier user access.
Earlier this year, Google also introduced a sidebar-based assistant that allows users to answer cross-tab questions. This feature leverages Personal Intelligence from Gemini, which can connect to services like Gmail and Google Photos to provide more personalized answers.
Through this integration, users can schedule meetings using Calendar, check locations using Maps, and compose and send emails via Gmail directly from Chrome. Additionally, users can edit web images using the Nano Banana 2 feature available in the sidebar.
Prior to this expansion, Gemini in Chrome was available to users in the United States since its launch in January, and was later expanded to India, Canada, and New Zealand in March.
With this latest expansion, the availability of Gemini in Chrome has expanded further. However, the agentic feature-allowing AI to control the browser window to complete tasks automatically-is still in the testing phase and only available to AI Pro and AI Ultra paid users in the United States.
