TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda School or New Garuda Excellent High School provides 100 percent scholarships for students only in the first year. Ardi Findyartini, the Director of Strategic and Transformative Learning Systems at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, stated that in the following years, the government will provide at least 80 percent of the scholarships for Garuda School students.
"For the following years, at least 80 percent. Because we also hope to provide public participation opportunities for students at New Garuda Excellent High School," she said during a press conference to socialize the Garuda school at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in South Jakarta, on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
Ardi mentioned that the government provides various facilities for Garuda school students. These include facilities for assessing students' English language skills and assistance with applying to domestic and international universities.
"There will be assistance for enrollment in foreign universities, especially for those who need to apply to obtain a letter of acceptance (LoA)," she said.
Ardi emphasized that Garuda School's enrollment of new students is open to all Indonesian children with extraordinary intelligence. Children from all regions in Indonesia, she said, can register as long as they meet the specified requirements.
General Requirements
- Indonesian citizens
- Students in grade 9 in the second semester of junior high school or its equivalent in the current year
- Maximum age of 21 years by 1 July 2026
- Preference given to those from economically disadvantaged families
- Willing to be placed at New Garuda Excellent High School location and reside in the dormitory during the educational period
- Ready to participate in all self-development programs.
Specific Requirements
- Scoring a minimum of 85 in the subjects of Bahasa Indonesia, English, and Mathematics
- Having academic achievements in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) curated by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas Kemendikdasmen) and listed in SIMT (Talent Management Information System).
