TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national futsal team continues its journey in the 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship by facing Malaysia in their second Group B match. The Indonesia vs. Malaysia fixture is scheduled at Nonthaburi Hall, Thailand, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 15:00 Jakarta time.
This match offers the Garuda squad a chance to maintain their positive momentum and secure a path toward the semifinals. Indonesia opened the tournament convincingly with a 7-0 victory over Brunei Darussalam. This win provides crucial confidence for Dewa Rizki and his teammates ahead of this rivalry match.
Despite using a different lineup from the squad that finished as runners-up in the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, the team remains solid. Indonesia's coach, Hector Souto, believes the current players possess a high fighting spirit. "Motivating this squad is easy because they have long dreamed of playing for the national team," Souto said, as quoted by Skor.id.
"The team composition is good, even though only two players remain from the previous main AFC squad. Great spirit is our main strength," added the Spanish coach.
Conversely, Malaysia began the tournament with a 1-2 defeat to Australia despite taking an early lead. Nevertheless, Souto emphasized that his team will not underestimate their opponents. "Malaysia has many new players, but they possess good individual quality. We must see what we can apply on the field and play as well as possible," he said.
"I am confident this team will show extraordinary performance and hard work," he added. A victory against Malaysia will ensure Indonesia's passage to the semifinals, fulfilling their initial group stage target.
