TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indonesian Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the employment status of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) working as teachers will be transferred to that of central government employees.

He said that the policy was an agreement at a meeting between government officials and the House of Representatives (DPR). He also ensured that the policy also took into account fiscal conditions.

"We have mutually agreed that employment status will be transferred to that of central government employees," said Prasetyo following a meeting with DPR at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, as quoted by ANTARA.

In this regard, he stated that part-time PPPK teachers would be appointed as full-time PPPK. Subsequently, teachers currently holding full-time PPPK status would have the opportunity to participate in the selection process to become civil servants (PNS) in 2027.

According to him, the government continues to synchronize data regarding teachers across these various employment statuses. He noted that resolving these teacher employment issues cannot be done in isolation, as various factors must be taken into account.

In addition to DPR, according to him, the central government also frequently receives input from teachers' associations. "We are committed to continuing our efforts to find a solution as quickly as possible," he said.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa assured that the policy would not jeopardize fiscal sustainability. He also stated that the government had conducted simulations regarding budgetary requirements for the coming years.

"So, these measures are being taken without jeopardizing our fiscal position for 2027, with the deficit remaining at 2.4 percent," said Purbaya.
