TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has shown attention to the residents of Gaza, Palestine, following the recent Israeli attacks on Saturday, January 31, 2026. This heightened concern was revealed by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi.
The Head of State, as mentioned by Prasetyo, also conveyed a specific message to the member countries of the Board of Peace regarding the Israeli air strikes. However, Prasetyo stopped short of disclosing the message.
"There is a specific message, but it was communicated through confidential channels," Prasetyo stated when approached at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday morning, February 2, 2026.
The airstrikes targeted the administration building of the "Ghaith" camp, which houses hundreds of displaced Gaza residents, and were carried out just a week after Israel, along with several other nations, including Indonesia, signed on as members of the Board of Peace. This organization is positioned as a coalition aimed at overseeing the administration, stabilization, and reconstruction of Gaza during the post-conflict transition period.
Despite persistent Israeli attacks on Gaza since the organization's inception, Prasetyo remains confident that the Board of Peace reflects Indonesia's enduring commitment to the Palestinian cause. "Regardless, we will continue to make efforts because it is part of our nation's commitment to assist our brothers and sisters in Gaza and Palestine," he said.
At least 31 Palestinian civilians were killed in the early hours of Saturday due to a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting various sectors across the Gaza Strip.
Five Palestinians, comprising three children and two women, were killed, while several others sustained injuries in an Israeli airstrike that struck an apartment building in the Rimal neighborhood of western Gaza, according to medical sources cited by the Anadolu news agency.
Seven other Palestinian civilians, including a man, his three sons, and three grandchildren, were killed in another Israeli airstrike which targeted a refugee tent in the Asdaa area northwest of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, as reported by paramedics at the city’s Nasser Hospital.
In addition, Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes on al-Jalaa Street in northwestern Gaza, as well as two strikes in the eastern portion of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, which resulted in no reported casualties.
