TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Queen of the World Cup, Shakira, is finally back with her fourth anthem for the world’s biggest football championship. On Thursday, the 49-year-old officially unveiled the snippet of the song Dai Dai which will be released in full on May 14.
Just months before the 2026 World Cup kicks off on June 11, Shakira took to Instagram, posting a one-minute video of the track. The Colombian singer wrote, “From Maracana Stadium, here is “Dai Dai,” the FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026.” In the same post, she also featured Nigerian singer Burna Boy.
Long before stadiums echoed with today’s World Cup anthems, Shakira had already cemented her place in football history with Waka Waka (This Time for Africa). Released as the official anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the song quickly evolved from a tournament soundtrack into a worldwide cultural phenomenon.
For decades, FIFA has enlisted major artists to capture the spirit of the World Cup through music, but few songs have reached the scale of Waka Waka. Its infectious rhythm, vibrant choreography, and unifying message helped propel the music video past 4.4 billion YouTube views, securing its place among the platform’s most-watched music videos ever, as per Billboard.
Fans quickly praised Shakira after hearing the track, with many calling her the ultimate voice of the World Cup. Social media reactions compared her return to a superhero “saving” the tournament soundtrack, while others argued that no artist captures the spirit of football quite like she does.
