Various countries are making efforts to prevent further spread of hantavirus on Thursday, May 7, after the alarming cruise ship outbreak on MV Hondius.

As reported by CNA, authorities in several countries are tracking passengers who disembarked the ship before the virus was detected and anyone who had close contact with them since.

Three individuals—a Dutch couple and a German national—have died in the hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship.

In total, five individuals have been confirmed to have contracted the virus, with three other suspected cases, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

2. PSSI Selects Teladan Medan Stadium for 2026 AFF U-19 Cup

Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) Executive Committee member Arya Sinulingga said Teladan Medan Stadium is one of three venues for the ASEAN U-19 Championship 2026 (AFF Cup).

"We are using three stadiums, including Teladan Stadium," said Arya Sinulingga after the AFF U-19 Cup draw in Medan on Thursday, as quoted by ANTARA.

The coach of the Indonesian U-17 national team, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, stated that the goalless draw against Vietnam in the final Group A match of the 2026 AFF U-17 Cup will serve as an evaluation ahead of the U-17 Asia Cup. The match, held at Gelora Delta Stadium on Sunday night, April 19, 2026, resulted in a 0-0 draw, causing Indonesia to miss out on the semifinals and finish third in the group with four points.
