TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Ten Bogor Commuter Line services were delayed by more than an hour and two others were canceled Thursday morning after a person was struck by Commuter Line No. 1183 traveling from Bogor to Jakarta Kota on the Pasar Minggu-Manggarai rail line.

The incident also forced the affected train to be evacuated for repairs, disrupting services on one of Jakarta's key commuter routes.

Meanwhile, eight Tangerang Commuter Line services were delayed by up to 48 minutes after Commuter Line No. 1914, operating from Duri to Tangerang, struck a motorcycle that was crossing the tracks at an unauthorized crossing between Rawabuaya and Batu Ceper stations.

Bogor Line Disrupted

KAI Commuter Vice President of Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda said the company would continue working with local authorities and community leaders to improve rail safety and prevent similar incidents.

"KAI Commuter will continue to collaborate and coordinate with local authorities and community leaders to educate the public about safety along the railway," Karina said in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

KAI Commuter Director Purnomo Sidi said the Bogor train suffered damage to an air pipe in its braking system after hitting a person.

For safety reasons, the train had to be evacuated using a rescue train and taken to the Bukit Duri train depot for repairs.

The removal of the damaged train temporarily blocked the Pasar Minggu-Manggarai section, forcing Commuter Line services to operate on a single track.

"To reduce delays, Commuter Line services on the route were temporarily operated on a single track," Purnomo said.

Tangerang Services Also Hit

The separate incident on the Tangerang line occurred when Commuter Line No. 1914 struck a motorcycle at an unauthorized railway crossing.

The collision damaged the front driver's cabin of the train and disrupted services between Rawabuaya and Batu Ceper.

Train services on the section were temporarily operated on a single track, while KAI Commuter personnel were dispatched to the site to inspect the damage and carry out initial repairs to ensure safe operations.

KAI Commuter apologized for the delays affecting passengers on both the Bogor and Tangerang lines following the two separate incidents.

The company urged the public to prioritize safety, follow instructions from railway personnel and stay off railway tracks.

"If operational problems occur, all passengers are urged to prioritize safety, not force their way onto trains when they are already overcrowded, and not walk along railway tracks," Purnomo said.
