TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto will bestow titles, service awards, and honors on several outstanding national figures in commemoration of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi revealed that several ministers still serving in the Red and White Cabinet are also scheduled to receive these awards and honors.
Prasetyo confirmed that this year's award recipients will come from diverse backgrounds. "We're still finalizing the details, but we can assure you there will be a lot of variety," Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The Gerindra Party politician revealed that one of the categories being considered is figures who have made significant contributions to the technology sector. "For example, individuals who have dedicated themselves to the technology sector to the point of holding internationally recognized technology patents," he said.
The award ceremony will take place one week after the Indonesian Independence Day commemoration ceremony. The culmination of the celebrations will be held at the Merdeka Palace on Monday, August 17, 2026. "It's planned to take place one week after the commemoration of the proclamation," Prasetyo said.
Previously, Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro explained that the awarding of service awards and honors was part of a series of state agendas in commemoration of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day.
Juri stated that the government presents awards to individuals, entities, government institutions, and organizations that have demonstrated exceptional service, achievement, devotion, and loyalty to the nation and state. According to him, the nominees come from diverse backgrounds and have undergone a rigorous selection process.
"The candidates come from various backgrounds, including academics, religious figures, artists, bureaucrats, and the military, as well as other figures who were selected strictly and transparently by the Council for Titles, Medals, and Honors," said the jury in a press conference at the Main Building of the Ministry of State Secretariat, Jakarta, on Friday, July 31, 2026.
