TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali served 13.2 million passengers from January to July 2026.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Nugroho Jati, in a statement received in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday, stated that the largest proportion came from international routes, with 8.5 million passengers, while domestic routes accounted for 4.7 million.
Nugroho lauded the smooth flight and airport operations this year, with services to passengers were deemed optimal.
"As the gateway to air mobility in Bali, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport plays a strategic role in supporting the tourism sector and the movement of people both domestically and internationally," he said.
Meanwhile, air traffic at the airport, managed by PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney Airports, reached 80,000 aircraft movements.
This figure consists of 43,000 international flights and 36,000 domestic flights.
Regarding passenger movements, particularly international ones, Nugroho noted that flight routes to and from Singapore were the busiest, with 1.5 million passengers, followed by Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with 903,000 passengers.
Furthermore, Australian cities saw Perth with 687,000 passengers, Melbourne with 630,000 passengers, and Sydney with 494,000 passengers.
International air traffic in Bali is served by 44 national and foreign airlines connecting to 42 routes in 16 countries.
"Australia is the largest connecting country with a total of 12 flight routes," he said.
In particular, this air gateway to Bali welcomed four million international tourists by July 2026.
Data from the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office shows that tourists from Australia dominate with 1 million people, accounting for 25 percent of total visits, followed by China with 358,000 people, India with 327,000 people, South Korea with 174,000 people, and the United Kingdom with 172,000 people.
Meanwhile, for domestic flights, the Cengkareng-Jakarta route was the busiest with 2.1 million passengers, followed by Surabaya with 738,000 passengers, Labuan Bajo with 309,000 passengers, Makassar with 258,000 passengers, and Lombok Praya with 253,000 passengers.
In total, there are 24 domestic routes operated by 11 airlines.
"I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali also serves as a hub airport, connecting international and domestic passengers to various surrounding destinations, including tourist destinations like Labuan Bajo and Lombok," said Nugroho.
"This certainly confirms I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport's role as a vital connectivity hub for Indonesia and the wider region," he continued.
Meanwhile, logistics transportation through Bali Airport recorded a volume of 67,000 tons of cargo, with 50,000 tons of international cargo and 17,000 tons of domestic cargo.
Nugroho stated that the flight performance from this period serves as a basis to maintain smooth airport operations.
