TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metropolitan Police and Bank Mandiri have reactivated the bank account of Supriyono, also known as Botok, the coordinator of the Pati Bersatu Community Alliance (AMPB), after it was temporarily suspended.
The reactivation came after police said they had obtained legal findings concerning donations for a protest by Pati residents that had been collected in the account.
“The suspension of the account can now be lifted, and the account is once again under the authority of Bank Mandiri,” Jakarta Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Director Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin said at a press conference at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Bank Mandiri President Director Riduan, Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri and House of Representatives Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman also attended the press conference.
Iman said the account suspension, which police refer to as a transaction “postponement,” was intended to verify that the donated funds came from lawful sources. He said the measure was taken to protect both donors and recipients of the funds.
He said the transaction suspension could last for up to five working days under Law No. 8 of 2010 on the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering.
“The five working days have not yet elapsed. However, we moved quickly to ensure that the democratic process and the exercise of the right to express opinions, as guaranteed by law, remain protected for everyone,” Iman said.
Meanwhile, Bank Mandiri President Director Riduan said the bank would immediately reactivate Supriyono’s account. He said the bank remains committed to safeguarding customers’ interests and operating in accordance with applicable regulations.
“As a bank that serves customers under the applicable regulations, we will follow up on what was conveyed today and immediately reactivate the account that was previously subject to a transaction suspension,” Riduan said.
Supriyono’s account was previously reported to have been blocked while he accompanied Pati residents to convey their demands in Jakarta on Friday, August 21.
The account reportedly held Rp80.9 million (about US$4,900), comprising Supriyono’s personal funds and public donations intended to support the protest.
