TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that Indonesia is currently experiencing a phenomenon he referred to as the inflation of observers. Teddy pointed to the emergence of commentators who claim to be concerned over issues ranging from food security and the military to foreign policy.

According to Teddy, these observers often lack the professional background necessary for the subjects they address. He further claimed that they present data that fails to align with the actual facts on the ground.

"Currently, there is a phenomenon. What is it? There is something called the inflation of observers. So, there are many observers. There's a rice observer, but their background is not in that field. There are military observers and foreign observers. And these observers, their data does not match the facts. Their data is wrong," Teddy told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Teddy argued that the majority of these observers have been attempting to sway public opinion since before Prabowo Subianto assumed the presidency. "So, these observers have already influenced the citizens," he added.

However, Teddy asserted that the facts speak for themselves, noting that Prabowo secured more than 96 million votes in the 2024 presidential election. "But what's the reality? The reality is, more than 96 million citizens believe in Pak Prabowo. They don't believe them. That's tangible evidence of public trust. Not an assumption," Teddy said.

Teddy went on to say that the government does not reject criticism. He believes that anyone is free to voice their dissent. However, he cautioned against making inflammatory statements that could spark public anxiety.

He also maintained that the situation across Indonesia remains "completely stable, completely under control." Teddy emphasized that the administration welcomes public input, noting that the government is striving to refine and maximize its performance.

He concluded by reminding the public to maintain positive hopes and prayers for Indonesia. "Let's not be the people who instead encourage others to have bad hopes and prayers for the nation we love," he said.
