TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, responded to the summons from the 9-member prosecutor team at Attorney General's Office to be questioned in a money laundering case. The investigation is related to the discovery of 74 kilograms of gold and hundreds of billions of rupiah at his residence in Sentul, Bogor.
"He has appeared and is currently being questioned. He arrived at 1 p.m," said the Head of Public Relations of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Media stationed in front of the main entrance of the Attorney General's Office from morning until evening did not witness Febrie's arrival. Information obtained by Tempo revealed that Febrie entered through the basement.
Febrie is being questioned as a witness based on the investigation order (sprindik) number Print-03/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026 dated July 20, 2026. Anang Supriatna stated that the new order was issued after the prosecutors received the case files and the evidence of gold and money from the police.
The Attorney General's Office also issued three other orders related to Febrie Adriansyah. First, Order 43 is to investigate allegations of corruption and money laundering at PT Krakatau Steel. Order 44 is to investigate allegations of corruption in the management of coal at a power plant suspected of causing a blackout in Sumatra. Additionally, Order 45 is related to allegations of corruption at PT Asabri. Febrie has been named a suspect in the PT Asabri case being investigated by the police.
Febrie's lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea, denied all allegations against his client. Hotman questioned the process of naming Febrie as a suspect because he was not summoned and questioned beforehand, which is considered a violation of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Hotman claimed that his client was highly regarded by President Prabowo Subianto. This is because during Febrie's tenure as Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes and Chairman of the Task Force for Forest Area Arrangement (Satgas PKH), he made significant contributions to non-tax state revenue.
"Imagine someone who is a source of pride for the president suddenly being criminalized without even saying goodbye to the president," said Hotman on Friday, July 18, 2026. Hotman has now resigned as Febrie's lawyer.
