TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's tax revenue by January 31, 2026, records a 30.7% growth at Rp116.2 trillion compared to last year's Rp88.9 trillion during the same period.
Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara said reduced tax refunds contribute to the growth. "The net tax shows good growth. The tax refunds made by the Directorate General of Taxes were conducted with caution and well-maintained governance," during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, February 23, 2026.
One of the largest contributors to net revenue is value-added tax (VAT) and Luxury Goods Sales Tax (PPnBM), accumulating Rp45.3 trillion.
In gross terms, VAT and PPnBM had accumulated Rp82.6 trillion, showing a 7.7% growth compared to the previous year. Suahasil explained that value-added tax is paid during any transaction. He said, "This is a sign that transactions continue to occur in our economy."
Another source of the net tax increase is corporate income tax (PPh) which totaled Rp5.7 trillion, while other taxes contributed Rp16.1 trillion.
Individual income tax and PPh 21 had accumulated Rp13.1 trillion, but this number experienced a negative contraction of 20.4% compared to the previous year. There were also decreases in final income tax, PPh 22, and PPh 26 which amounted to Rp26 trillion, dropping 11% from the same period the previous year.
"Individual income tax still appears negative, but net corporate income tax appears positive. We will continue to pay close attention to this for a solid tax collection throughout the year," he said.
Looking at the industrial sector, Suahasil stated that the manufacturing industry had the largest tax contribution, growing by 18.1%. The second largest contribution came from the trade sector, showing a 2.6% net growth, six times higher than the previous year.
Meanwhile, the mining sector's net tax revenue grew by 10.9%. He said, "These three sectors make up around 66% of our tax revenue. So, the majority show pretty strong growth."
Overall, tax revenue by January 31, 2026, reached 4.9% of the target tax revenue in the 2026 state budget. This year, the government is targeting tax revenue of Rp2,357.7 trillion.
