TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is set to overhaul the job structure at the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) on Friday, with 50 tax officials scheduled for rotation.

The reshuffle is part of an internal reform initiative following the replacement of 36 officials across four directorates general last week.

“The number of new officials entering is 50-50 on Friday, with additional rotations to follow,” Purbaya said after a meeting with House of Representatives Commission XI at the DPR complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Earlier, the state treasurer had announced plans to rotate 70 DJP employees, but the figure was later revised. Purbaya said the personnel changes are intended to strengthen economic governance within the Ministry of Finance.

On January 28, Purbaya rotated 31 officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, replaced three officials at the Directorate General of Treasury, and reassigned one official each at the Directorate General of State Assets and the Directorate General of Financial Sector Stability and Development.

Those affected by the reshuffle are senior officials equivalent to echelon II positions. The transfers are stipulated under Finance Minister Decree No. 36 of 2026 on the rotation of senior officials within the Ministry of Finance.

The Directorate General of Taxes and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise have come under heightened scrutiny following a series of corruption investigations.

On Wednesday, February 4, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested the former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs and Excise during an operation at the directorate’s headquarters.

On the same day, the KPK also arrested three individuals in an operation at the Madya Banjarmasin Tax Office in South Kalimantan, including its head, Mulyono.

This was not the first time the KPK has targeted senior officials within the Ministry of Finance. Previously, the commission conducted operations on January 9–10, 2026, arresting eight people, including the head of the Madya North Jakarta Tax Office.
