
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has decided to conduct a gradual evacuation for all Indonesian citizens in Iran. The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran formally conveyed this decision following the latest developments and escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
"The Indonesian government has decided to conduct a gradual evacuation for Indonesian citizens in Iran," the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran wrote in an announcement on March 4, 2026, via its X account.
The Embassy requested all Indonesian citizens to immediately contact and coordinate with local Indonesian representatives to obtain technical information regarding schedules, mechanisms, and evacuation gathering points. The entire process will be intensively coordinated through the official communication group for Indonesian citizens in Iran.
Despite the ongoing preparations for the evacuation, the Embassy emphasized that consular services will continue to run normally to ensure maximum protection for Indonesian citizens in the accredited area.
"The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran will continue to operate normally to provide consular services and protection for all Indonesian citizens," the statement said.
The Embassy also urged Indonesian citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and continually monitor official instructions, as well as maintain communication among fellow citizens to ensure a smooth evacuation process.
This evacuation is part of the Indonesian government's commitment to guarantee the safety and protection of its citizens abroad amid increasing regional tensions.
For Indonesian citizens facing emergency situations or needing immediate assistance, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran has opened an emergency hotline at +98 902 466 8889.
On Saturday, the U.S. and Israel launched a series of attacks on several targets in Iran, including in Tehran, which resulted in damage and civilian casualties. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory missile strikes on Israel and U.S. military facilities in the Middle East.
