TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The private residence of former Indonesian President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, in Solo, Central Java, has gone viral on social media over the past few days. This surge in attention occurred after the location of Jokowi's house appeared on Google Maps with an unusual designation: 'Wailing Wall of Solo'.
The name change has sparked a variety of reactions from netizens and gained traction on social media platforms, particularly TikTok. Observations from internet users show that the name appeared and was subsequently reshared through screenshots and videos. Some TikTok users even visited the site specifically to take photos in front of the wall at Jalan Kutai Utara No. 1, Kelurahan Sumber, Kecamatan Banjarsari, Solo.
Responding to the viral naming of Jokowi's house as the 'Wailing Wall of Solo', his aide, Police Adj. Comr. Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, stated that his team was aware of the change on Google Maps. "Yes, I already know," he confirmed in a WhatsApp message to Tempo on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
According to Syarif, the name change is not viewed as something unusual. He also noted that he understands why people are arriving at Jokowi's residence after the 'Wailing Wall of Solo' trended on TikTok.
Since the phenomenon went viral, Syarif observed that many people have indeed come to capture the moment. "Yes, there are. We urge them not to continue doing so. Because this is the residence of Bapak Joko Widodo and Ibu Iriana, not the Wailing Wall of Solo," he said.
Regarding security in the vicinity of Jokowi's residence, Syarif stated there are no plans to tighten security or restrict visits in terms of the number of visitors or the duration of stays. "None," he said.
He further reiterated that the overall situation around the residence remains conducive. "Just normal," Syarif added.
