TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is visiting New Delhi, India, to attend the Bloomberg New Economy Forum scheduled for Friday, February 20, 2026.
Jokowi's aide, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, confirmed this. Syarif explained that Jokowi's arrival in New Delhi was welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to India, Ina Hagniningtyas Krisnamurthi.
"Bapak Joko Widodo arrived in New Delhi, India, and was welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to India, Ibu Ina Hagniningtyas Krisnamurthi," wrote Syarif through WhatsApp messaging app on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Syarif stated that Jokowi would attend the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, a breakfast discussion on sovereign artificial intelligence (AI). The event will be moderated by Erik Schatzker, Editorial Director of Bloomberg New Economy, and David Hearn, Global Head of Forums for Bloomberg Live.
"Tomorrow morning, he (Jokowi) will attend the Bloomberg New Economy Forum," Syarif confirmed.
A number of international figures will address the forum, including Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Right Honorable Rishi Sunak. According to the schedule, the event is planned to take place on Friday from 07:30 a.m. to 09:00 a.m. local time at The Leela Palace Hotel.
Jokowi's upcoming attendance at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum would not be the first, as he participated in a similar forum in November 2025 in Singapore. At that time, Jokowi was present as one of the Global Advisory Council members of the Bloomberg New Economy. Jokowi even served as one of the main speakers at the forum.
Jokowi delivered his speech on Friday, November 21, 2025, presenting a roadmap towards the intelligence economy, a concept of data-based economy, artificial intelligence, and connectivity, which he believes should be the new direction for Indonesia's development.
The father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka also addressed the role of the digital payment system QRIS, which connects businesses from small traders to large companies.
