TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Manchester City emerged as the winner of the 2025-2026 FA Cup after defeating Chelsea 1-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, 16 May 2026. Antoine Semenyo's solitary goal in the second half secured the trophy for Pep Guardiola's team.

Statistically, Manchester City was more dominant throughout the match. City had 56 percent ball possession, while Chelsea had 44 percent. Guardiola's team also had nine shots with four on target, while Chelsea only managed seven attempts with one shot on target.

The match started with high intensity from the early minutes. Manchester City initially took the lead in the 27th minute through Erling Haaland. However, this goal was disallowed by referee Darren England as the striker was deemed to be offside.

Chelsea attempted to respond with quick play and pressure in the midfield. However, the game began to be marred by hard fouls. Enzo Fernandez received a yellow card in the 29th minute for a tough tackle. Three minutes later, Marc Cucurella also went into the referee's book for a foul on a City player.

Controversy arose just before halftime. In the 45+2nd minute, a Chelsea player was brought down inside the penalty box in a dangerous position. The Blues players immediately appealed for a penalty, but Darren England chose to continue the game. The score remained goalless as the first half ended.

Entering the second half, Guardiola made a substitution by bringing on Rayan Cherki for Omar Marmoush. City immediately showed aggression. Antoine Semenyo nearly put his team in the lead in the 47th minute, but his header narrowly missed the target.

Chelsea was once again frustrated by a controversial decision from the referee in the 58th minute. The ball seemed to strike a Manchester City player's hand in the penalty area, but the referee did not consider it a handball. Earlier, Joao Pedro also fell in the penalty box after being challenged by a City defender in the 66th minute, but the penalty claim was again dismissed.

Manchester City finally broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute. Antoine Semenyo scored a spectacular goal with a close-range shot inside the penalty box, putting City ahead 1-0.

Chelsea tried to rally and continued to press for the remaining of the match. In the 77th minute, they once again appealed for a penalty after a contact in the forbidden area. However, the referee deemed the duel as a normal contact once again.

City had a golden opportunity to double their lead in the 84th minute. Matheus Nunes managed to enter the penalty box and unleash a powerful shot, but the ball hit the post. Chelsea then lost Joao Pedro to injury in the 86th minute. He had to be substituted and was replaced by Alejandro Garnacho.

Tension rose during injury time when Moises Caicedo received a yellow card in the 90+2nd minute for excessive protests towards the referee. As the final whistle was blown, Chelsea failed to equalize. Manchester City thus secured a 1-0 victory and brought home the FA Cup trophy for this season at Wembley.
