TEMPO INFO — Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites is proud to announce the latest edition of its quarterly art program, featuring the debut solo exhibition of the talented local artist Ratih Alsaira. Titled “Weaving The Unseen,” the exhibition was officially opened on 13 February 2026 at the ARTSPACE, located on the Lobby Floor.
“Weaving The Unseen” explores the multifaceted nature of the female figure. Moving beyond traditional portrayals of gentleness, Ratih Alsaira highlights the resilient strength of women—the "spine" of the home and the first teachers of the next generation. The exhibition features 10 primary works, including Memoir of Anne, The Stealth Wealth, Lullaby, Beauty in the Fields, Setapak Rona, etc.

The collection uses the craft of tailoring as its central metaphor. Inspired by domestic skills observed since childhood—the precise measuring, cutting, and sewing of fabric—the artist symbolizes the meticulous and often undervalued work managed within the feminine sphere. As modern civilization advances, Ratih celebrates the "multitasking beauty" of women who navigate professional careers alongside domestic duties.

Breaking away from traditional oil on canvas, Ratih’s exploration for this exhibition included experimenting with leather patchwork, knitting yarn, and imaginative illustration styles. Her work is deeply influenced by a lifelong love for storybooks. This is most evident in her piece "Lullaby," which draws inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale of a king obsessed with fashion, reimagined through a feminine, contemporary lens.
