TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prices of several food commodities in Indonesia have shown mixed movements ahead of Ramadan and the Chinese New Year holiday on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Data from the National Food Price Panel (Bapanas) shows that while most staple food prices have decreased, red chilies and beef have continued to rise.

The national average price of beef at 10:00 AM Western Indonesia Time was recorded at Rp140,495 per kilogram, up 1.78 percent or Rp2,461 from the previous day.

The price also remains above the reference purchase price (HAP) of Rp140,000 per kilogram. Beef prices have been trending upward since early February, with traders in Jakarta’s Pasar Minggu reporting stable prices of around Rp135,000 per kilogram on February 4.

Red chili prices also climbed, reaching Rp75,233 per kilogram, an increase of 0.34 percent from February 16.

Meanwhile, most other food commodities recorded declines. Premium rice dropped 0.96 percent to Rp15,482 per kilogram, while medium rice fell 0.29 percent to Rp13,331 per kilogram.

Shallots decreased by 3.72 percent to Rp40,529 per kilogram, and garlic fell 1.89 percent to Rp38,351 per kilogram. Curly and large red chilies were down to Rp44,442 and Rp39,748 per kilogram respectively.

Broiler chicken prices declined 0.35 percent to Rp41,004 per kilogram, and broiler eggs fell 1.61 percent to Rp30,664 per kilogram. Cooking oil prices also eased, with packaged oil at Rp20,914 per liter, bulk oil at Rp17,694 per liter, and Minyakita oil at Rp16,916 per liter, all showing decreases from the previous day.

The data highlights a typical seasonal pattern in Indonesia, where prices of certain commodities rise ahead of major holidays, while others soften due to market adjustments.
