TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto invited American business leaders to invest in Indonesia, during the business summit at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 local time.

Addressing entrepreneurs, Prabowo emphasized the importance of strategic, mutually beneficial economic cooperation. "I believe that what I learned from American entrepreneurs is: 'Let's make money together.' Win-win," he said.

"Everybody makes profit," he added.

Prabowo said his background as a businessman gave him the perspective to understand what investors need and how the business world works. "Before I went [into] politics, I was also in business. That's why I think I can understand the business community with more empathy," said Prabowo.

The Gerindra Party boss also conveyed his commitment to creating a healthy investment climate in Indonesia. "I will testify how the [Indonesian] government and I always tried to protect our investors, be a good host, and produce the best atmosphere for investors," said Prabowo.

Indonesia, Prabowo claimed, is committed to maintaining the investment climate through regulatory certainty, law enforcement, and good governance. For Prabowo, these factors are key in attracting foreign investment.

"No one wants to invest in a situation or atmosphere filled with uncertainty, instability, or even chaos," said Prabowo.

During the same occasion, he emphasized Indonesia’s position as an attractive and competitive investment destination. He pointed out that the country not only has abundant natural resources but also possesses strategically important assets that make it a critical player in the global market.

However, according to him, Indonesia's investment attractiveness does not stop there. He said that Indonesia is currently driving the acceleration of industrialization, opening up new investment opportunities in various sectors. "We need investment and we want more investment. We are competitive, attractive, and have abundant mineral reserves for new technologies,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s critical mineral reserves, including nickel, copper, and bauxite, which serve as essential raw materials for technology and high-value industries.

“I think we have strengths in critical minerals. I have also received reports that Indonesia ranks among the countries with the largest rare earth reserves in the world,” he added, as quoted by the Prabowo Media Team.

On industrial development, Prabowo emphasized the government’s push to strengthen domestic processing and add value through downstreaming natural resources.

He cited that the Danantara Investment Management Agency will spearhead 18 downstream projects this year, including a US$3 billion (Rp50.4 trillion) waste processing initiative.

We continue to move forward in industrial downstreaming, with Danantara as the main driving force. We are moving very quickly in these sectors,” he said.
