TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The joint search and rescue (SAR) team has recovered a total of 74 victims of the Cisarua landslide in West Bandung Regency, Indonesia, after the evacuation entered its ninth day on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Last weekend, the joint SAR team recovered four body bags at two different search points. This discovery brings the total number of victims recovered from the landslide debris to 74.

The Head of the Bandung Basarnas Office, Ade Dian Permana, stated that the search process was carried out in a measured manner, prioritizing the safety of personnel in the field. He revealed that two body bags were recovered at Worksite A2, while two others were recovered at Worksite A3 after the operation area was expanded.

"The expansion of the search area has had a positive impact on the evacuation results. We are continuing our activities with a focus on the safety of all personnel," said Ade in a written statement released on the West Bandung Regency Government's official website on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Of the 74 body bags recovered, the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team has identified 57 of the 58 bodies that are still being examined. Meanwhile, the remaining 16 body bags are still undergoing further identification.

Based on preliminary estimates, approximately six victims are still suspected to be missing. Ade stated that weather conditions during the search were relatively favorable, although light rain fell for a short period. However, Ade emphasized that the rain did not hamper the search process, as it was anticipated through coordinated work rhythms and safety management at each worksite.

This operation involved elements from Basarnas, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), relevant ministries and institutions, volunteers, and various other supporting elements working synergistically and professionally.

"The SAR Team ensures that daily evaluations are conducted to adjust the search strategy in the field, while maintaining safety as a top priority," Ade said.
