TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A search of an apartment complex in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, became the key to the bribery case involving Blueray Cargo and officials at the Directorate General of Customs. Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) found several envelopes stuffed with bundles of cash in three apartment units.
Some envelopes were brown, others white. At the corner of each envelope were codes consisting of letters and numbers. The three apartment units were allegedly used as safe houses by customs officials. "The money stored in the safe house was in various foreign currencies and rupiah," KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
The search took place hours after a sting operation by the KPK on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The KPK team tailed several customs officers suspected of having received bribes from employees of Torion Express Indonesia, the trademark holder of Blueray Cargo. That day, the KPK arrested Rizal, Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs; Sisprian Subiaksono, Head of the Intelligence Subdirectorate for Enforcement and Investigation; and Intelligence Section Head Orlando Hamonangan. All three were immediately named suspects.
Two Blueray Cargo employees, Andri and Dedy Kurniawan, were also named bribery suspects. The majority shareholder of Torion Express, John Field, was likewise declared a suspect. He initially fled when the KPK moved to arrest him but turned himself in early Saturday morning, February 7, 2026. "He's not familiar with the law, so he panicked," said John's lawyer, Dinalara Dermawati Butar Butar.
