TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is building a subsidized apartment complex on a 30.7-hectare land in Meikarta, South Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. The construction is fully funded by Danantara Investment Management Agency.
"If you talk about this in terms of supply and demand, the demand is very high," said Danantara's Chief Executive Officer Rosan Perkasa Roeslani in South Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Rosan Roeslani mentioned that on the land, 18 towers with 32 floors will be built at a cost of around Rp14-16 trillion. The available apartment units will reach 140,000.
"Of course, there are state-owned construction companies that can also be involved in this project, of course, with other private contractors," he said.
The project stands on a land grant from the Lippo Group which was symbolically handed over yesterday. These subsidized apartments are not far from the location of District 1 Meikarta. During yesterday's handover, the land was still flat, and several pieces of heavy equipment were present to begin construction.
In the development plan, this apartment complex has four unit types. Type 1 with one bedroom covers an area of 24.8 square meters, the premium one-bedroom type covers an area of 28.7 square meters, the two-bedroom type covers an area of 33.3 square meters, the premium two-bedroom type covers an area of 34.3 square meters, and the three-bedroom type covers an area of 45 square meters.
Minister of Public Housing and Settlement Maruarar Sirait said the price per apartment unit has not been determined. It is still waiting for the completion of the construction process. "We will announce the scheme later, we will do it," he said on the same occasion.
This vertical residence supports President Prabowo Subianto's 3 million houses program. In addition to vertical residences, the government also provides subsidized landed houses with financing provided through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP).
