TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Nusantara Sovereign Wealth Fund (Danantara) aims to gain access to the global investment ecosystem after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian government today, February 6, 2026. Danantara's CEO, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, stated that the memorandum is intended to build a mutually reinforcing and long-term economic partnership.
"We see this collaboration as a forward-looking step to promote quality investment, accelerate national economic transformation, and enhance Indonesia's human resource capacity to be more competitive globally," he said in a written statement on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Following the memorandum, the parties will establish a working group and action plan to implement the scope of collaboration. This will be achieved through regular meetings to ensure progress in implementing the collaboration.
According to Rosan, this collaboration can strengthen international trust in investment opportunities in Indonesia. "It also creates real opportunities for the development of future strategic projects," he added.
In addition to the MoU, President Prabowo Subianto and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also discussed the two countries' priority agendas. In the agricultural sector, Prabowo invited the Australian government to develop a joint venture to support Indonesia's food security.
He also invited investments in Indonesia's downstream critical minerals sectors, including nickel, copper, bauxite, and gold. Domestic companies were also encouraged to invest in Australia's critical mineral mining sector.
"Danantara is ready to collaborate with its partners in Australia to explore investment opportunities in various other forms of partnership," said Prabowo in a joint statement at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that the agreement reflects the deep partnership and trust between the two countries under a comprehensive partnership strategy. Australia is also exploring defense cooperation with Indonesia.
The agreement with Danantara will develop cooperation and information sharing between agencies in Australia and Indonesia. "Just as importantly, it will help identify opportunities for increased two-way investment between our nations, bolstering our shared economic security and resilience," Albanese expressed in the joint statement.
