TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of images of Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo hitting presenter Najwa Shihab in a TV studio circulated on Instagram [archive], Facebook, and TikTok from April to July 2026.
Dozens of content pieces containing the Kompas.tv logo claimed the incident occurred after Najwa questioned Perry's position scandal. Another version of the image showed the two arguing.
However, do these images actually capture the conflict between Perry and Najwa?
FACT CHECK
Tempo verified the content through direct observation, a fake-fake detection app, and a comparison of the narrative with credible sources. The results showed that all of the content was fake-fake, largely detected by Gemini, a fake-fake model developed by Google.

The first image shows the title of the program "Rosi" with the hashtag #KapolriDiRosi. Search results on Kompas TV show the program aired on May 17, 2017, with National Police Chief Tito Karnavian as the guest speaker, not Perry Warjiyo and Najwa Shihab.
The image details also show a physical oddity because the tip of Najwa's index finger appears to be missing.
The Hive Moderation tool detected a 98.8 percent probability that the content was artificially generated using the Gemini model. A separate analysis using Gemini also confirmed this finding.

The second image also shows an anomaly because the line between Perry's fingers and the folds of his shirt are not visible. The Hive Moderation tool detected a 99.8 percent probability that the image was a fake, with a 95.9 percent probability of using the Seedance model.
The Was It AI app also found evidence of similar elements in the image.

The image showing Najwa fainting was detected as AI-manipulated by the AI or NOT app with a 45 percent probability. Gemini's analysis also indicated that the image was generated by the model.

AI or NOT also detected the fourth image as artificial intelligence with a 76 percent certainty. There is a 40 percent probability that the image was created using the GPT-40 model developed by OpenAI and Stable Diffusion.
Meanwhile, Truth Scan assessed the footage as artificial intelligence with a high 93 percent certainty. Gemini's analysis also indicated the involvement of Google's artificial intelligence technology, which edited some elements of the image.

Similarly, the fifth image received a score of 93.2 percent for artificial intelligence from Hive Moderation, strongly indicating the use of the Gemini model. The Truth Scan tool produced a similar conclusion, with a high confidence level of 96 percent, that the content was fabricated. Gemini's analysis also confirmed that the image was created using their software.
Content Origins
Tempo traced the narrative, which was initially spread by the website Minakonews [archive] on April 17, 2026. The website claimed the images were taken from a live broadcast of Rosi's show on Kompas TV the day before.
However, verification results showed that the Rosi program, which aired on April 16, 2026, did not discuss Bank Indonesia at all. Instead, the edition covered the accusations of treason leveled by Saiful Mujani, the founder of Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC).
The program, hosted by Rosianna Silalahi, featured Ulta Levenia Nababan, a Principal Expert at the Presidential Staff Office, and Asfinawati, an academic from the Indonesian Jentera Law School.
A similar narrative, including a doctored image of Perry beating Najwa, was then re-circulated by the website Newsline [archive] on May 18, 2026. This post triggered wider distribution across various social media platforms.
CONCLUSION
Tempo's verification concludes that the narrative that circulating images show Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo hitting Najwa Shihab in the Kompas TV studio is a false claim.
