TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto invited Russian companies to invest in and develop 138 energy exploration blocks that have been opened in Indonesia.
"We have just informed our Russian partners that Indonesia has now opened 138 energy exploration blocks, and we invite Russian groups, Russian companies, and their technology to be involved in those 138 blocks," Prabowo said at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday, as quoted by ANTARA.
The President said Indonesia is discussing cooperation with Russian groups to develop several joint projects in the energy sector, including refineries and storage terminals. "I think we're considering all prospects. We're discussing cooperation with Russian groups to develop joint projects, such as refineries and storage terminals in the energy sector," he said.
Prabowo stated that Indonesia currently has an ample supply of LNG, meaning that some sectors do not directly require Russian gas. However, Indonesia remains open to the use of Russian technology and the development of joint projects.
In addition to energy exploration, the Head of State stated that Indonesia-Russia cooperation is also developing in the fields of fertilizer production and mining processing.
Prabowo said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between an Indonesian fertilizer company and one of Russia's largest business groups to jointly invest in a gas-based fertilizer production project in the Russian Far East. "So, these projects are going very well and have progressed quite far," Prabowo said.
In the mining processing sector, Prabowo said Indonesia is also collaborating with Rusal, a Russian aluminum company.
The President said Rusal would enter Indonesia on a large scale to develop refineries with Indonesian groups. "Rusal will enter Indonesia on a large scale to develop refineries with Indonesian groups," he said.
Prabowo said Indonesia remains open to expanding cooperation with Russia in various fields. "So, we are still looking forward to more cooperation between Russia and Indonesia," he concluded.
