TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of Facebook accounts (account 1 [archive], account 2) shared a video claiming that thousands of United States troops successfully invaded Iranian territory on July 16, 2026. This content has been circulating amid escalating armed conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran in the Gulf region.
The post depicts rows of camouflage-clad U.S. soldiers carrying long-barreled rifles as they disembark from warships onto a coastline claimed to be in Iran. Is the footage showing U.S. troops landing on Iranian territory true?
FACT CHECK
Tempo verified the footage using reverse image searches, AI-detection tools, and credible news reports. The investigation revealed that the video was a complete digital fabrication. France24.com reported that no U.S. ground troops were deployed to Iran during the Middle East conflict, aside from a rescue operation for a downed American pilot in April.
Tempo’s Fact Check team uncovered several visual anomalies across the footage. In the first video, although soldiers are shown wading through the sea, their uniforms and trousers are completely dry. Additionally, the commander's lips appear rigid while issuing orders and fail to sync with the audio.

Tempo then analyzed both clips using deepfake detection software. For the first video, Hive Moderation reported a 97.6 percent probability that the imagery was generated using AI technology.

An analysis by the Truth Scan tool concluded a 53 percent probability of deepfake generation.

In the second sample, Hive Moderation confirmed AI generation at 99.2 percent, supported by a 90 percent probability rating from Truth Scan.

CONCLUSION
Tempo’s verification concluded that claims of a video showing U.S. soldiers invading Iranian territory are false. The footage is an AI-generated fabrication.
