TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia will play their final match of the 2026 FIFA Series on Monday night, facing European side Bulgaria at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 08:00 PM local time. Earlier in the day, Solomon Islands will take on Saint Kitts and Nevis at 03:30 PM in the opening fixture.
Indonesia have made a slight change to their squad for the decisive match, with Mauro Zijlstra ruled out and replaced by Jens Raven.
Head coach John Herdman said Zijlstra was withdrawn due to a thigh muscle injury. The setback comes just after the forward scored his first senior international goal for Indonesia, netting the final goal in the team’s 4-0 victory over Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Ahead of the match, Herdman acknowledged the challenge of facing Bulgaria, currently ranked 87th in the world and a team with experience in seven World Cup editions.
“Supporters also need to understand that we have only had two days. The players arrived late, were on different sleep cycles, and we only had two training sessions together,” Herdman said after leading a training session at Madya Stadium on Sunday.
“It’s a small step, but also a big step for us to stay disciplined against a team like Bulgaria. We have to find a way to win,” he added.
Herdman said he is particularly wary of Bulgaria’s dangerous wing play.
According to him, Bulgaria often create threats through triangular passing combinations on the flanks.
“If they find their rhythm, it can make things very difficult for us. So we have to disrupt their rhythm and combinations on the wings. That will be very important in this match,” he said.
Indonesia and Bulgaria both enter the final after convincing wins in their previous matches.
Indonesia thrashed Saint Kitts and Nevis 4-0, with Beckham Putra starring by scoring twice.
