TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Onward Coalition (KIM) plus party has not yet unanimously endorsed President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run in the 2029 presidential election.
KIM Plus is an expansion of the coalition of political parties supporting the government that supports Prabowo and Gibran. KIM Plus members include Gerindra, Golkar, PAN, Democrat, NasDem, PKB, PPP, PSI, Prima, and Garuda.
PKB supports Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto for a second term. However, PKB has not yet firmly endorsed Gibran for another term. Meanwhile, the Democrats and Golkar have stated that they will support Prabowo's administration.
Meanwhile, the non-governmental party, PDIP, believes Jokowi is seeking favor by promoting the issue of Prabowo and Gibran for a second term. Jokowi reiterated his previous statement about Prabowo-Gibran's two-term ticket when meeting with reporters at his home in Sumber, Banjarsari District, Solo, on Friday, January 30, 2026. At the time, Jokowi was asked to respond to a statement by PSI Executive Chairman Ahmad Ali, who said Gibran had the potential to be a strong contender in the 2029 presidential election.
Ahmad Ali's statement was made on Kompas.com's Gaspol Podcast, which aired on Thursday, January 22, 2026. In response, Jokowi offered a brief comment. "I've already said it, Prabowo-Gibran for two terms. That's all," Jokowi said.
A few days after Ahmad Ali's statement, President Prabowo Subianto invited those who disliked his administration to run against him in the 2029 presidential election. The General Chairman of the Gerindra Party made this statement during a press conference at the 2026 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Central and Regional Governments.
Here are the responses of several parties regarding this issue:
Democrat
Herman Khaeron, Secretary General of the Democratic Party's Central Leadership Council, stated that his party has not yet discussed the issue of a two-term administration for Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. He stated that the government still faces significant political, economic, and social challenges.
Therefore, Khaeron stated that the Democrats remain focused on assisting President Prabowo Subianto in implementing his programs. "The Democrats are currently focused on helping President Prabowo Subianto's programs succeed," he said on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
PKB
The PKB expressed satisfaction with President Prabowo Subianto's performance. PKB Chair Muhaimin Iskandar expressed confidence that Prabowo would lead successfully during his five-year term. Furthermore, Muhaimin expressed his support for Prabowo's tenure for at least ten years. "We are essentially satisfied with Mr. Prabowo's administration and are committed to a minimum of two terms," said Muhaimin at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
As for whether the same support was extended to Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Muhaimin declined to answer directly. According to Muhaimin, the National Awakening Party (PKB) has not yet discussed who will be their vice-presidential candidate in the 2029 general election. "Oh, it hasn't been discussed yet. Not yet," Muhaimin said.
Golkar
Golkar Party Secretary General Muhammad Sarmuji said the party is committed to maintaining the current administration. Sarmuji's statement was in response to Joko Widodo's statement that raised the idea of a second term for Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Golkar, he said, will ensure the smooth running of the Prabowo-Gibran-led administration. However, he did not explicitly state his support for Prabowo-Gibran for two terms.
"The main thing is that we will carefully protect Mr. Prabowo as president until he carries out his mission well," he said when met at the House of Representatives complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
PDIP
PDIP Central Executive Board Chair Andreas Hugo Pareira considered Jokowi's early statement about Prabowo-Gibran running for two terms a show-off. "So that Gibran remains safe in Prabowo's embrace," he said when contacted on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Furthermore, he said Jokowi's desire to mention Prabowo-Gibran running for two terms was an attempt to clear up erroneous statements from the Indonesian Solidarity Party elite. Andreas was referring to Ahmad Ali's statement that Gibran might run as an alternative presidential candidate in the 2029 presidential election.
