TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his condolences over the deaths of three Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers who were killed while serving on a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.

Prabowo conveyed his condolences in a post on his Instagram account, @prabowo, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. In the post, the Gerindra Party chair extended sympathy to the families of the fallen soldiers and paid tribute to their dedication and sacrifice in carrying out their duties.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. My condolences on the deaths of Captain Inf. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Private Farizal Rhomadhon while carrying out a peacekeeping mission in the Middle East,” Prabowo wrote in an Instagram Story.

In a separate statement, Indonesia’s Government Communication Agency said Prabowo highly valued the soldiers’ service and sacrifice.

According to the agency, the president regarded them as figures of dedication and courage who had contributed to maintaining world peace while also upholding Indonesia’s reputation abroad.

The escalation of fighting between the Israeli military and armed groups in South Lebanon claimed the lives of three Indonesian soldiers serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) at the end of March.

The first incident occurred on March 29, when one Indonesian soldier was killed and three others were injured, ranging from minor to serious wounds. The fallen soldier was Private Farizal Rhomadhon, a member of Infantry Battalion 113/Jaya Sakti.

A day later, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that two more Indonesian soldiers were killed as violence intensified in Lebanon. The two personnel, who died on Monday, March 30, were also serving on the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission.

They were identified as Captain Inf. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan.

“Two TNI soldiers were reported killed, while two others suffered serious injuries,” Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, head of the ministry’s information bureau, said in a statement on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
