TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The prosecutor denies the rumors that former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah fled to Saudi Arabia to perform the Umrah pilgrimage. "It's not true, how could he go for Umrah? He has been barred. No, he didn't flee," said the Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, to the media at the Attorney General's Office building, South Jakarta, on Monday, July 13, 2026.
He explained that Febrie Adriansyah had been prohibited by Immigration. Therefore, he cannot leave Indonesia. "We can confirm that he is in Indonesia, not abroad, and has been barred. It's also under the investigator's surveillance," said Anang.
Rumors about Febrie Adriansyah going for Umrah circulated on social media. One of them was through a post from the account X @Sentjoko. "Indonesia has just lost a religious anti-corruption law enforcer: Febrie Adriansyah, the pious Jampidsus, the strongest candidate for the Attorney General. After his residence was searched and 74 kg of gold were confiscated, he resigned in the early hours of July 11th and immediately went for Umrah to meet @Allah estewe," wrote the account in Indonesian on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
The account posted a photo of Febrie Adriansyah wearing a white koko shirt and a white cap in front of the Ka'bah. The post was captioned with several Indonesian narratives: "CLOSEST SOURCE INDICATES: After announcing his resignation, Jampidsus immediately flew to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah," one of the narratives stated.
