TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed the ratification act for the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Indonesia. The Russian Embassy in Jakarta announced this via a social media post on Tuesday, May 26.

As reported by Antara, the implementation of the Indonesia-EAEU free trade pact was previously discussed by the Indonesian and Russian governments during a joint commission meeting in Kazan on May 13.

According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the agreement is set to unlock wider access for several of Indonesia's flagship products within the EAEU market.

These commodities include palm oil and its derivatives, coffee, cocoa, fishery products, textiles, footwear, and furniture.

"Indonesia views Russia as its most strategic partner in the Eurasian region. This meeting is an important momentum to strengthen ongoing cooperation and push for the completion of various priority agendas between our two nations," Airlangga noted following his meeting with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.

The landmark free trade agreement was initially inked on December 21, 2025. The partnership encompasses all current EAEU member states, namely Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

According to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, as reported by Sputnik, the agreement establishes a preferential trade regime across a vast majority of product categories. In total, the trade pact covers more than 98 percent of all bilateral commerce between Indonesia and Russia.
