TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The management of Ahmad Yani International Airport, in collaboration with the Semarang Class I Health Quarantine Office, has begun checking the body temperatures of arriving international passengers. This measure aims to prevent the entry of the Nipah virus from overseas.
"This is in accordance with the Indonesian Ministry of Health Circular Letter Number HK.02.02/C/445/2026 regarding vigilance against Nipah Virus Disease, dated January 30, 2026," stated Arif Haryanto, Branch Communication & CSR Department Head of Ahmad Yani Airport, on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Body temperature measurements for all international arrivals are conducted using a thermal scanner. "This thermal scanner is located within the international arrival area of General Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang," he noted.
International passengers are also required to complete the All Indonesia application. Subsequently, any passengers detected with a body temperature above the threshold will undergo monitoring.
"Officers will conduct observations and further examinations for passengers found to have a fever via the thermal scanner, as well as for those who are unwell upon arrival," he said.
Arif urged international passengers experiencing fever symptoms to report them immediately. Currently, Ahmad Yani Airport serves two international routes, specifically to and from Malaysia and Singapore.
