1. Fact Check: Did Religious Conflict Trigger the Nepal-Tibet Border Floods?
Since August 28, 2026, various social media accounts have claimed that the massive floods along the Nepal-Tibet border were an act of divine retribution. It was alleged that the disaster occurred because Muslims in Nepal frequently face discrimination and persecution. These accounts included videos depicting religious conflict and the vandalism of places of worship—such as those shared by Account 1 [archive] and Account 2 on Facebook, as well as Account 3 and Account 4 on Instagram and X. The content circulated after flash floods struck the border region on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

2. Kalimantan Wildfire Haze Reaches Philippines as Air Quality Worsens
Smoke from forest and land fires in Indonesia's Kalimantan has drifted toward the Philippines, triggering unhealthy air conditions in parts of Metro Manila and renewed concerns over Southeast Asia's recurring transboundary haze problem.
According to Manila Times, the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said Tuesday that the haze could continue affecting parts of the country through September 3, as smoke from fires in Kalimantan is carried by the southwest monsoon. Click here for a detailed report.
3. Fact Check: Was Cash in NTT Earthquake Rubble Linked to Raja Juli Antoni?
Several social media accounts on Facebook [archived] have circulated a video showing stacks of cash amidst the rubble of a building following an earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia. The money is alleged to be the proceeds of corruption hidden by Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni.
“Stacks of US dollars found in the earthquake rubble in NTT; suspected to be corruption proceeds from the Forestry Minister,” wrote one account on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Does the video actually show corruption proceeds belonging to Raja Juli that were discovered in NTT? Find the truth here.
