1. Jakarta Launches Airport Bus Route from Blok M with Rp3,500 Fare

Pramono Anung, the governor of Jakarta, officially launched the Transjabodetabek bus service connecting Blok M, a major commercial and transit hub in South Jakarta, and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

The Jakarta provincial government has set a promotional fare of Rp3,500 (about US$0.22) for the route during its first three months of operation.

Pramono said the promotional pricing aims to encourage commuters to try the new service, particularly ahead of the Eid al-Fitr travel season, when millions of Indonesians return to their hometowns.

2. Jusuf Kalla: Indonesia Can Leave BoP Without Consequences

Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla said Indonesia would face no major consequences if it decides to withdraw from the Board of Peace (BoP) initiative launched by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Kalla said Washington might threaten countries that leave the initiative with higher reciprocal tariffs, but noted that the Supreme Court of the United States had previously limited such tariffs to a maximum of 15 percent.

“Don’t forget that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that it cannot exceed 15 percent. So even if someone leaves, there won’t be any consequences,” Kalla said at his residence in South Jakarta on Thursday, March 12, 2026, after meeting with several former Indonesian ambassadors.

Indonesia's Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, spoke about the likelihood of 2026 Hajj being canceled amid the escalating war between Iran and the US and its ally Israel.

He stated that the ministry will continue to monitor the situation in the Middle East, including considering various recommendations from other ministries, one of which is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"(For) today, it remains on schedule; there have been no changes. Hopefully it will continue as planned," said Irfan at the parliament complex on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
