TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Heavy rain accompanied by a tornado struck the Gelora Pakansari sports complex in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Thursday afternoon, February 12, 2026, causing significant damage to the main stadium roof.
The tornado severely damaged the roof of Pakansari Football Stadium, one of the main sports venues in the region. Joint officers from the Bogor Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) and the Bogor Fire and Rescue Agency are currently conducting evacuation and damage assessment efforts at the site.
“There were no fatalities in this incident. However, several facilities and buildings around the Gelora Pakansari complex were damaged. The total losses are still being calculated by officers,” said Bogor Youth and Sports Agency head Asnan on Thursday.
The incident, which occurred shortly after midday prayers, also damaged the Laga Tangkas building within the complex, uprooted several trees, and caused ceilings inside the stadium to collapse. People and street vendors in the area fled to safety as the strong winds swept through the complex.
Several vendor carts and motorcycles were blown over by the gusts, while at least two cars were damaged by falling trees.
“The most severe damage was to the stadium roof, and several ceiling panels fell,” Asnan said. “Some motorcycles were hit by the wind. Two cars were affected, one of them belonging to a Youth and Sports Agency employee and struck by a fallen tree.”
He added that the wind moved from north to south before turning eastward, directly hitting the main structure of Pakansari Stadium.
Authorities are continuing to assess the extent of the damage.
