United States President Donald Trump attending a series of events in Davos, Switzerland, January 22, 2026. Beyond the issue of impeachment, a number of political opponents have begun to voice their concerns about using the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. This discourse was fueled by concerns about the president's mental stability, following the resurfacing of the Greenland acquisition issue and a series of other aggressive behaviors. Shutterstock

TEMPO.COJakarta - Turkiye has offered to mediate between the United States (US) and Iran to resume talks on Iran's nuclear program.

However, no concrete steps have been taken by either side, according to a Turkish diplomatic source, quoted by RIA Novosti on Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

The day before, the Middle East Eye news portal reported that Ankara had also proposed a brief ceasefire in the Middle East as a first step toward negotiations.

"The Turkish side has offered mediation services to the US and Iran, but so far there have been no concrete steps that could lead to the resumption of negotiations," the source said.

Tensions have escalated since February 28, when the United States and Israel launched attacks on several targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.

The US and Israel initially called the attacks a "preventive" measure against the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program, but later asserted that they sought a change of power in Iran.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed on the first day of the military operation. The Islamic Republic of Iran then declared a 40-day mourning period.
