TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto agreed to strengthen employment partnerships in the high-tech and nursing sectors while receiving a visit from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
"In the healthcare workforce sector, we greatly appreciate the signing of the Letter of Intent regarding the Global Skills Partnership in nursing. Indonesia also wants to expand job opportunities for Indonesian workers in Germany, including in the high-tech sector," President Prabowo said in his remarks, as quoted by ANTARA.
In addition to the formal employment sector, the bilateral meeting between the two heads of state also brought a breath of fresh air to domestic micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The Indonesian government welcomes the implementation of the Partnering in Business with Germany program, which is specifically aimed at developing the national MSME program. The capacity building of business actors and the strengthening of comparative investment commitments will be officially addressed in the near future.
Indonesia is scheduled to host the second Joint Economic and Investment Committee in 2026.
Comprehensive cooperation with Germany is also underway through the Competitiveness Industrial Modernization and Trade Acceleration Program (CITA) scheme.
The meeting was part of a series of strategic partnership discussions covering the economic, investment, energy transition, energy security, education, and employment sectors.
The momentum from the Jakarta meeting will also serve as the initial agenda for welcoming the 75th anniversary of the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Germany in 2027.
