Trump Claims He Is Iran's Top Assassination Target

1 day ago 4

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta United States President Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that he was likely Iran's number one assassination target, as ANTARA reported.

"Their leaders are gone. Head leaders, they're gone, and they had another set of leaders, they're gone. Now they have another set of leaders — they may be gone — who knows," Trump said at a press conference in Ankara. "And you know what? I may be gone, too. Because I'm their No. 1 target."

Trump added that he did not care if he was targeted for assassination by Iran because he was just doing his job. He also said his chance of being assassinated was 5.2 percent.

"Well, I speak about it a lot because, you know, the life of a president is very dangerous. It’s 5.2 percent. You know what a race car driver is? One-tenth of one percent. A bull rider, that looks pretty dangerous. It’s one-tenth of one percent. No, it’s 5.2 percent is you don’t make it," Trump said.

Trump survived three assassination attempts, the first of which occurred during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July 2024, when Trump was shot in the ear.

The second attempt occurred in September of that year at Trump's golf club in Florida. Finally, in April 2026, a shooting occurred during a White House Correspondents' Association dinner attended by Trump.

The suspect was later charged with several counts, including attempted assassination of the U.S. president.

In June 2026, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation reported discovering a plot targeting a UFC event at the White House. The U.S. Department of Justice later designated the plot as a new assassination attempt on Trump.
