TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government, through the Investment Management Agency Danantara, has established a collaborative partnership with the United Kingdom (UK)-based semiconductor company, Arm Limited. The company will train Indonesian engineers in semiconductor chip design technology.

The collaboration documents were signed by Danantara and Arm in London on Monday, February 23, 2026, local time. President Prabowo Subianto attended and witnessed the signing of the partnership.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartanto stated that the collaboration with Arm is an effort for Indonesia to master semiconductor technology. "Arm is one of the companies that dominates the semiconductor market, especially in terms of design, which is the upstream part of the semiconductor industry," said Airlangga in a written statement on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

According to him, Arm controls about 96 percent of the chip technology for the global automotive sector and almost 94 percent of chip designs for data centers and artificial intelligence. Through this collaboration, he said, Indonesia aims to accelerate the mastery of strategic technology that has been the foundation of digital innovation.

Arm Limited will train approximately 15,000 Indonesian engineers in the industrial ecosystem. "So that they can master chip design technology, and the collaboration plan will continue to the next generation of semiconductors or chips, so that Indonesia has capabilities in the semiconductor and design sectors," he added.

Airlangga mentioned that this collaboration is a follow-up to President Prabowo's directive to strengthen national technological mastery independently, completing the government's major agenda in building national food and energy resilience. "This is a leapfrog for the digital ecosystem," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries and Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, conveyed that the partnership with Arm Limited includes several programs. Among them are the deployment of Indonesian experts abroad and bringing Arm trainers directly to the country with specific training modules.

"There are 15,000 of our engineers who will be trained by Arm, either by sending them here or having their instructors come to Indonesia with their modules," said Rosan.

Prabowo's visit to London, UK, earlier this week was made after a series of visits to the United States. According to the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo was in London on Monday, February 23, 2026, local time to witness the signing of the Danantara-Arm Limited collaboration.

During the visit to London, Prabowo was accompanied by the Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries and Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani; the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia; the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; and the Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. These officials also accompanied Prabowo on his previous visit to the United States.
